Psalm 42

Iúdica me, Deus,

Judge me, O God,

et discérne causam meam

and distinguish my cause

de gente non sancta:

from the unholy nation:

ab hómine iníquo et dolóso

deliver me from the unjust and deceitful

érue me.

Quia tu es, Deus, fortitúdo mea:

For Thou, O God, art my strength:

quare me repulísti,

why hast Thou cast me off,

et quare tristis incédo,

and why do I go about in sadness,

dum afflígit me inimícus?

while the enemy afflicts me?

Emítte lucem tuam et veritátem tuam:

Send forth Thy light and Thy truth:

ipsa me deduxérunt, et adduxérunt

they have conducted me and brought me

in montem sanctum tuum

unto Thy holy mount,

et in tabernácula tua.

and into Thy tabernacles.

Et introíbo ad altáre Dei:

And I will go unto the altar of God:

ad Deum, qui lætíficat iuventútem meam.

to God, Who gives joy to my youth.

Confitébor tibi in cíthara,

I shall praise Thee upon the harp,

Deus, Deus meus:

O God, my God:

quare tristis es, ánima mea,

why are you sad, O my soul,

et quare contúrbas me?

and why do you disquiet me?

Spera in Deo, quóniam adhuc confitébor illi:

Hope in God, for I will still praise Him:

salutáre vultus mei, et Deus meus.

the salvation of my countenance,and my God.
